1st Quarter, 2007

StraightForward Media is proud to announce that the winner of our 1st Quarter, 2007, Media and Communications Scholarship in my second year at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA.
"My parents were filmmakers when I was a child and I traveled to and from a lot from Long Beach, CA to Hong Kong. I am half-Chinese, half-Caucasian and have deep roots in both cultures. My parents were a great inspiration to me growing up especially my mom who brought me on film sets and got me exposed to the film industry at a very young age. I settled down in Irvine, CA for part of elementary school and continued all the way through high school. My parents, Patty and Steve Morrison, have always encouraged me to do my best and I lived by the mentality of constant personal improvement. That helped me succeed in high school and ultimately get into the great school that I am at today.

After I graduate from Loyola Marymount, I hope to find an internship or apprenticeship that I can learn a skill for the movie industry that I am interested in, which is art department related. I hope to maybe start something here in Los Angeles, or move back to Hong Kong to get my career started. "

3rd Quarter, 2006

StraightForward Media is proud to announce that the winner of our 3rd Quarter, 2006, Media and Communications Scholarship is Katherine Peach, who is in her third year at Western Michigan University where she studies Journalism. She is also majoring in Spanish with a minor in Creative Writing

I live with five other girls and countless animals in Kalamazoo. It ensures that things never get dull and is a great support system away from home. I was raised in Fowlerville, MI, in a very small community. My parents, Cindy and Jerry Peach, have always encouraged me in all things. My older sister Kelly, now lives in Atlanta, which keeps her farther than I would like. At least I get to visit her in the warm weather during the cold winter.

After school, my aim is to go to the east coast to possibly study more and see more of this country. I would love to go to Europe, especially Spain, since I have never been. I like to try new things and change scenery when possible. For the mean time, I keep busy going to basketball games, bowling and going to local shows. I attempt to stay in the know about recent events and like to read. I believe recycling and conservation more are important now for our world and future than they have ever been.

3rd Quarter, 2005

StraightForward Media is proud to announce that the winner of our 3rd Quarter, 2005, Media and Communications Scholarship is Christen DeProto. "Years ago, I was often lulled to sleep by the sounds of the road and the comfort of the boat-like waves created by the shocks of the 1982 Dodge Dart my father used to drive. On these trips, I would fight sleep by trying to listen to the conversations my parents were having or the radio playing softly, but more often than not, it was a battle I would always lose. It was around these years, when my childhood innocence of the world around me began to slip away like leaves from the trees in my small New England town. The days of peacefully sleeping without a care in the world began to transform into more attentive learning experiences. I began to realize that there was a world so much larger than the one I knew, and I had a burning desire to learn about it."
