Vo-Tech Scholarship Winners

3rd Quarter, 2006

StraightForward Media is proud to announce that the winner of our 3rd Quarter, 2006, Vocational-Technical Scholarship is Amber Cooper. Hello, my name is Amber Cooper, I am a 38 year old divorced mother of three wonderful children. I graduated Granite Hills High. Went on to junior college at Cuyamaca Community College from Sept 1986 until Dec 1987, but dropped out of college after I go married. Was married for 14 plus years and held various jobs from fast food, to photographer at Sea World and even had a career in Banking for over 10 years. After my divorce, I decided to return to school to make a better life for myself and my children so we would no longer be living on public assistance. I returned to San Diego from Tennessee where we had been living since 1995, to go to San Diego Mesa College. I graduate with full honors and my AS in Radiologic Technology this coming August. I am living proof that you are never too old to go back to school or to follow your dreams.

2nd Quarter, 2006

StraightForward Media is proud to announce that the winner of our 2nd Quarter, 2006, Vocational-Technical Scholarship is Phuc Lee.

"My name is Phuc Le (Phuc means Blessing in Vietnamese). I was born in Ben Tre province, Vietnam. My parents both are high-school teachers in Ben Tre. Like the most majority of Vietnamese families, they have been putting much emphasis on my education since I was a child.

In September 2004, I decided to leave Vietnam for the US with the great hope that I would have great chances to approach many latest CIT-related Technologies (CIT=Communication Information Technology) in this land of opportunity. And after two semesters of studying CCNA academic program at Pasadena City College, I passed the CCNA test with 923/1000 points. I have just finished my CCNP1 class taught by Professor Jason Huh, one of the great teacher I have ever had. I am still studying E-commerce Survey and Windows Server 2003 classes this Fall semester. For Winter Semester, I plan to take the CCNP1 test (BSCI: 642-801) and possibly the Microsoft MCP test (70-290). Then I will register for E-commerce Practice class and CCNP 2 and 3 classes in Spring semester.

Due to my very late coming to the US, I realized that I have to race with time to enhance my CIT-related knowledge as much as I can. In spite of the fact that I have heard much that CIT (Communication Information Technology) has been on the downward trend in the US recently, I am still consistent in choosing CIT as my field of interest because I strongly believe that Science and Technology always play a vital role in human life, especially for the US where the CIT is present in every aspect of life. With that in mind, I strongly commit myself in pursuing CIT now and forever."
