A good education will instill in me the knowledge and skill needed to perform difficult tasks in my career field. How can I become a biomedical engineer without learning all the knowledge needed to create an artificial heart? An education will also allow me to speak intelligently about social security and other domestic as well as international subjects as a senator. An education will serve as a firm foundation for my entry into the area of politics later in life where I will have an opportunity to bring my expertise in medicine and science, a lifetime of learning, and convictions in order to make our country and this world a much better place.

I yearn to help others and fulfill my civic duties, but in order to carry out my dreams I must first be educated.

My training in science and research began at birth. Participating in a myriad of science competitions, entering yearly into the district Biotechnology competition, and developing new science projects every year: Science became a powerful force when I reached high school. I have been involved in Biotech for four years now and finally worked up to President this year. I see my goal and go after it. Each research plan is approved to the infinitesimal detail before experimentation. However, some of these plans don't always work and must be tweaked and reworked. The project is not just the process itself but research, planning, experimenting, writing, communicating, and competing. All of this takes time and a lot of dedication. I often stay after school till 7 PM or drive to school at night to work on a project. Several times I have driven to another city to do lab work. I give up meals, sleep and some part of my life because of my love for science. Summers are spent at research institutes, museums-giving scientific presentation to kids, and science camps learning-- absorbing new and more information to add to my next science project. I intend to pursue a career in biomedical engineering or medicine. Biomedical engineering is a new technology scientists are looking to to further develop and use for the betterment of mankind. Perhaps I can discover the next big biomedical breakthrough.
